Douglaston Community Theatre 1950 to the Present

In the Spring of 1950, in an effort to raise funds for their school, the PTA of PS 98 joined with a group of Douglaston residents who were interested in amateur theatrical work to present "Life With Father". It was the hope that this presentation would mark the beginning of a permanent theatre group in Douglaston. On the strength of the success of that production, a number of people under the leadership of Robert Hatcher, then president of the PTA, joined together to organize The Douglaston Community Theatre.  DCT continued to perform at PS 98 and then at JHS 67 through 1965. In the Spring of 1966, DCT began rehearsing and performing at Zion Episcopal Church Parish Hall and happily continues to do so today, producing two to three shows each year.

Douglaston Community Theatre holds the distinction of being the oldest community theatre group in Queens and it is our hope to continue the tradition of bringing quality theatre to Douglaston for many years to come. We welcome new members…actors, directors, backstage and production staff. For further information or to be put on our e-mail list please contact us at:  DougCommThtr@gmail.com
